Defiance (2008)

Okay, so I originally only watched this movie because Jamie Bell was in it. I didn't even know what it was about until I got it in the mail from Blockbuster. When I learned that it was about Jews and Germans, I was a little upset. I don't really like those kinds of war movies where the person killed every other minute. But this was different than every other Holocaust movie that I've seen. It wasn't about the camps, but some completely different group of people living on their own in the woods. It was actually pretty interesting. Also, I was pretty damn happy when I thought that Jamie Bell died, and then he came back to the forest, considering the fact that he was the reason I was watching the movie in the first place. The only thing that I wished that didn't do was put in the little bits of information in before the end credits rolled. I would have been so much happier if I didn't know that Jamie Bell's character hadn't "died six months later." If I wanted to know that, I would have looked it up. But besides from that, I was just glad that the actual movie portion ended well. They escaped, they were free, and tens of thousands of the ancestors of these people still exist to this day. That was a good thing to say. So all in all, this was a pretty good film.
